Tomorrow is Canada Day, so if you have not locked in your plans yet, now is the time. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Wednesday, so make sure you have a backup plan that involves indoor play, not just outdoor festivals and fireworks. We have rounded up celebrations across Durham in the listings below, including the Canada Day Celebration & Carnival in Ajax and Pickering's daytime celebration at Esplanade Park (with fireworks at Kinsmen Park that evening).
Browse our kids & family places for indoor play options around town, and Jolly Bubble in Whitby is now open if you want something local. Later in the week, the free recreational swim at Iroquois Park is worth knowing about if the heat returns, and Saturday brings the Brooklin Farmers' Market and the Lavender Local market at Tranquility Trails Farm.
